The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has a dynamic position for an individual with a passion for nursing within a team-oriented environment to provide first aid response to employees in the Edmonton Police Service and to promote health and wellness. The nurse will be responsible for:

- Acting as a professional health/medical resource to the Executive Team, operational staff, and Human Resource professionals, including the Employee Assistance Team, Safety Consultant, and Disability Management Consultants.
- Working directly with employees to promote health and wellness, for the prevention of illness and injury, to protect workers from workplace hazards and to ensure workers' capability and health are fitting for their job in the Service.
- Working with the Occupational Health & Safety Consultant to monitor, assess, and consult on safety issues, including participating in Certificate of Recognition (CoR) Audits.
- Responsible for incident management in regards to infectious disease exposures which includes needle sticks and the documentation and administration of such incidents to public health and medical authorities.
- Coordinating and conducting immunization programs for EPS.
- Coordinating and conducting medical surveillance activities for identified employee groups.
- This position requires alternative weeks of on-call work.

Qualifications

- Must be a licensed RN in Alberta in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Occupational Health Nursing Certificate is required.
- Certification in audiometric testing, spirometry, and venipuncture and International Trauma Life Support certification are assets.
- A minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in nursing, including experience in occupational health, working in an acute care facility, or infection control.
- The successful candidate will display initiative, flexibility, and critical thinking and have extensive successful experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated competency in delivering vaccines and administering vaccine programs and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation/teaching skills are required.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with Cority/Medgate is an asset.
- Candidates who do not meet the experience requirements may be considered at a developmental level.
- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Hours of Work: Up to 20 hours per week for the casual position. Monday to Friday.

Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 054, $40.903 - $58.433 (Hourly), $2,761.00 - $3,944.20 (Bi-Weekly), $72,060.86 - $102,944.34 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
