Product Designer – Top Hat
Top Hat is seeking a talented Product Designer to join our dynamic team. As a Product Designer, you will have the opportunity to work on all stages of the design process, from identifying problems to implementing solutions. You will also have the chance to collaborate with experienced Senior Product Designers and Managers to enhance your skills and contribute to our growing team.
The challenges you will encounter are diverse and complex, as Top Hat is used by over 3 million students at 750 of the top 1,000 higher education institutions in North America.
In this role, you will:
1. Engage with professors and students to understand their challenges and goals
2. Collaborate with product managers to identify and solve problems
3. Iterate on design concepts and gather feedback from designers, team members, and users
4. Work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation of your designs
5. Contribute to the evolution of our design processes and systems
About you:
1. 1-3 years of experience as a product designer or in a similar role (e.g. UX Designer, Visual Designer)
2. Experience with the full design process, including understanding user needs, defining problems, iterating on concepts, and implementing solutions (including school work)
3. Strong visual design skills, including an understanding of typography, color, and layout
4. Passion for designing accessible products and familiarity with inclusive design principles, such as WCAG 2.1 AA
5. Proven initiative and a desire to continually grow and improve your skills
6. Bonus points for experience with maintaining design systems, interaction design, and usability testing
