Clinical Teaching Fellow for General Medicine - Leicester This post would suit individuals who aim to pursue a career in General Medicine with a specialist interest in Medical Education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating and delivering the Trust's undergraduate clinical teaching programme (five sessions per week per annual average) and will undertake five sessions of clinical duties and professional development. The main educational duties will be delivering structured clinical teaching sessions, including bedside teaching, seminars as well as running formative exams including OSCE and single best answer (SBA), mid-block and end of block summative feedback for year 3 students and some teaching and OSCE's for Year 5 Medical Students. Year 3 OSCEs will include three Saturdays per year for student assessments with time off in lieu. Year 5 OSCEs will be during their regular time in a week. Main duties of the job The main clinical duties will be to support the busy departments within the Division of Medicine. Specialist clinics and skills training can be arranged according to career interest. TIMETABLE The work pattern will alternate between week A: "clinical" and week B: "medical education". Clinical duties consist of a mix of standard day shifts 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00pm. No on-calls. On occasions, when on clinical duty the teaching fellows are expected to support in bedside teaching. Job responsibilities Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings, and the post holders will be expected to spend One week in clinical/formal teaching as programmed in their timetable and one week doing clinical work. The post holder will be expected to participate in student induction sessions, assessments and end of block formal feedback sessions.
