Description

The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for up to two full-time tenure stream positions in Strategic Management. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in management or a cognate discipline with a focus on strategic management (e.g., economics, sociology), with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant academic journals in the fields of strategy, sociology or economics (e.g. Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, American Journal of Sociology, Review of Economic Studies), and journals of similar caliber, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, an active research pipeline, and other noteworthy activities in the fields of strategy, sociology or economics that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees.

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a willingness to undertake graduate supervision; and a demonstrated mastery of their subject area. Experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students in a management program is required. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference, the teaching dossier, and, for short-listed candidates, a strong performance during the on-campus seminar presentation. The teaching dossier includes a teaching statement, sample course materials, or teaching evaluations.

The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range of this position exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum.
