Overview

Davies is looking for a Risk Control Consultant to work on an independent contractor basis. Property and Casualty Insurance-based inspection work is the foundation, but most projects are consultative in nature, focusing on understanding risk and reducing exposures to achieve fewer accidents, injuries, losses and claims. Davies North America is a leading provider of Insurance Inspections, Risk Control Consulting and Loss Control.

We are an established company experiencing growth and are seeking qualified independent contractor specialists in Fire Protection, Loss Prevention, Risk Control & Mitigation. Industries served include Manufacturing, Construction, Healthcare, Agriculture, Non-profits, Contractors, Fleet Operators, Woodworking, Broker Programs, Logistics and Warehousing, and more.

Responsibilities

- Conduct risk control assessments and on-site inspections for Property & Casualty-related exposures.

- Provide consultative risk management guidance to clients to reduce exposures, improve safety, and minimize losses and claims.

- Travel to client sites within British Columbia; may require some overnight travel.

- Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.

- Maintain professional and up-to-date knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

Qualifications

- Progressive career advancement and technical skills through continuing education, and/or a degree in Fire Protection, B.Sc., and/or M.Sc.; and/or equivalent are required.

- Professional designations such as EIT, P.Eng., CRM, CRSP, CIT, CIP are highly desirable but not required.

- Strong working knowledge and proven success in two or more of the following areas: HPR/large property, Business Interruption, Construction-related operations, Commercial Fleet Operations, General Liability, Products Liability, Life Safety, Environmental Assessments, Safety Training, Workplace Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, Hazard Analysis and Consulting.

- Ability to travel within British Columbia; certified instructor/trainer and presentation skills are desirable.

- Completion of Insurance Institute courses is a plus.

- Self-management, client service orientation, and the ability to write clear, concise, yet comprehensive reports; proficiency with typical office software.

- Ability to operate a vehicle and visit policyholders on site; some overnight travel when needed.

- These positions are not IT-related work and require physical on-site visits and inspections.

- Excellent opportunities for those with 7, 10, 20+ years of direct experience, retired insurance risk control professionals, independent safety professionals, or experienced self-employed insurance loss prevention consultants.
