Overview

To meet growing demand, the System Protection and Automation Engineering group within the Power Sector at TRC is seeking an Automation & Integration Engineer to work closely with a diverse team of high performing engineers on utility, municipal, industrial and renewable projects across the United States.

Responsibilities

- Adhere to internal TRC quality control and quality assurance practices
- Adhere to client standards and requirements
- Interface with clients, other company departments, outside consultants, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers
- Serve as an engineering team member on assigned projects
- Work closely with leadership and senior team members to coordinate and maintain client satisfaction, product quality, project delivery schedules, and project budgets
- Designing, configuring, documenting, and commissioning integration systems and equipment
- Conceptual and detailed design, specification, procurement, integration, configuration, and commissioning of electrical utility:

1. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System
2. Protective Relays
3. Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs)
4. Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
5. Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
6. Communication Networks

- Design engineering and equipment delivery coordination to meet construction schedules
- Network communications capture, parsing, analysis, and troubleshooting
- Project requirement conformance reviews
- Site walk-downs and solution execution planning
- Documentation development and verification
- Review project information (budget, schedule, and client satisfaction) with leadership
- Promote complete and accurate documentation and be accountable for the quality of work
- Participate in professional development, training, and quality improvement
- Work with Project Engineer to evaluate equipment specifications and application of new equipment based on customer goals and industry standards
- Development and integration of custom logic and control schemes
- Support A&I aspects of multi-discipline projects
- Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping
- Promote team environment, support team members
- Travel as needed (amount flexible)
- Provide effective technical support of department needs and requirements
- Other duties as required by leadership

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering or sufficient education and experience in a related field; utility experience preferred
- 2 - 4 years of automation & integration experience
- Microsoft Office 365 Skills, especially Excel
- Experience with RTU/Data Concentrators
- Experience with IEC 61131 Programming, Automation Logic
- Ability to work with senior engineers to perform necessary design tasks
- Demonstrate knowledge of SCADA systems
- Experience with DNP3, Modbus, AcSELerator RTAC, SEL 5030 Quickset, GE Cimplicity, Protocol Test Software preferred
- Strong understanding of serial and Ethernet communication systems
- IEC 61850 experience preferred
- Some travel required
- Renewables experience preferred
- Team-oriented, empathetic, professional attitude

Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
