We are looking for a driven and capable Permit/Utility Coordinator to oversee the processes and activities necessary to secure the legal permissions and access rights required for construction projects. In this position, the Permit/Utility Coordinator will lead all entitlement processes for assigned construction projects and collaborate with partner teams, including Project Management and Project controls teams, to develop a comprehensive permitting strategy. This role also entails ensuring the effective execution of that strategy and identifying and mitigating risks associated with government approval processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research local, state, and federal permit requirements for construction projects.
2. Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
3. Collaborate with regulatory agencies to address any concerns, revisions, or additional requirements.
4. Monitor and track the status of permit applications to ensure timely approvals.
5. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
6. Identify land or properties requiring Right-of-Way (ROW) access for project development.
7. Negotiate ROW agreements with property owners or relevant entities.
8. Coordinate with project stakeholders to define precise ROW boundaries.
9. Maintain records of ROW agreements, ensuring adherence to their terms.
10. Act as the liaison between project teams, government agencies, utility companies, Telcom/fiber companies and landowners.
11. Provide updates on the progress of permits and ROW to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
12. Address disputes or issues related to ROW access or permit conditions.
13. Ensure all activities comply with environmental, safety, and zoning regulations.
14. Maintain accurate records of permits, ROW agreements, and related communications.
15. Prepare reports on the status of permits and ROW for project tracking and audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

1. 8-10 years of experience in a Permit/Utility Coordinator role within AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) firms
2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products is essential
3. Proficient in negotiating agreements and resolving conflicts related to permits and Right-of-Way access
4. Meticulous in reviewing documentation and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
5. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment

Preferred qualifications:

1. Master's degree or equivalent
2. Background in Urban Planning
3. Background in Land Use Law
