Communications Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Communications Specialist to join our team in the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires expertise in developing and executing communication strategies that enhance our corporate reputation, manage crisis communications, and support business objectives in a highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive internal and external communication strategies tailored to the oil and gas sector.
- Write, edit, and manage content for press releases, corporate reports, articles, newsletters, website content, and social media platforms.
- Oversee media relations, including drafting press materials, coordinating interviews, and managing crisis communication responses.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and community groups.
- Ensure regulatory and compliance messaging is effectively communicated to internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate with leadership teams to develop messaging aligned with business goals and industry trends.
- Manage branding and reputation management initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate values and objectives.
- Develop communication materials for investor relations, sustainability reports, and employee engagement programs.
- Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies.
- Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and best communication practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with experience in technical and corporate communication.
- Proven experience in crisis communication and media relations within a highly regulated industry.
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation for corporate platforms.
- Strong understanding of stakeholder engagement, community relations, and government affairs.
- Experience with design and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key industry players.
