Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Process Owner) for our location in Peterborough, Ontario. A Manufacturing or Process Engineer is responsible for the overall efficient and safe operation of production equipment while maintaining the highest standards of quality output.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to production, quality and EHS concerns, leading the cross-functional team through effective problem solving, troubleshooting and decision making.
- Lead and develop training and qualification of Operators, according to a well-established training program.
- Develop, maintain and/or improve documentation used for production activities.
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality and safety through innovative solutions.
- Work within a team of Process Engineers, Maintenance and Operator groups to ensure business objectives are met.
- Plan and develop maintenance requirements for equipment.
- Support the integration of new machinery and equipment through change control process (use of nuclear quality programs).
- Support production / facility related issues outside core working hours on a project specific basis.
- Optimize facility layouts, production lines and machine operations.
- Design, test and implement jigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Issue and maintain LOTO (lock out/tag out) equipment to workers, oversee LOTO policy, audit LOTO procedures and deliver LOTO training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- P.Eng. license or ability to obtain same.
- Bachelor's degree in either the Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with proven clear and succinct written and verbal communication skills.
- Having solid knowledge of Machine Guarding in accordance to CSA would be an asset.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control tools and principles.
- Comfortable with common Microsoft Office software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in the Nuclear industry.
- Experience with creation and control of engineering models and drawings (such as with SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD).
- Knowledge and experience of GD&T is considered an asset.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $71,000 and $106,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
