Job Summary:

This is a Full-Stack Software Engineer position within the Scotiabank Digital Services (DS) team, working within the eConsent and Digitized Solutions organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, providing technical mentorship, and supporting the eConsent application solution.

The role requires collaboration with various teams to design and develop high-quality solutions, provide technical leadership, and ensure successful delivery of projects. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to coach and mentor junior developers, analyze problems, innovate, and grow knowledge of new technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Delivery and Technical Platform/Architecture teams, external Vendors, Business Partners, internal Stakeholders, and Management to design and develop high-quality solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and act as a subject matter expert translating requirements into capabilities, creating code on new development initiatives, and implementing/deploying compliant technical solutions.
  • Showcase progress in projects/initiatives/programs, hold people accountable to their commitments, and ensure we are on track for successful delivery.
  • Coach and mentor junior developers, assisting them with technical challenges and ensuring best practices are followed and Bank standards enforced.
  • Review programs written by team members, establish and execute system test procedures, develop implementation plans, create required program and system documentation, and ensure all functionality has been delivered as required.
  • Analyze problems supporting internal team members and other development areas, providing technical guidance and advice.
  • Innovate, grow knowledge of new technology, and modernize the vision of our service.
  • Multitask and work within tight deadlines, which at times may result in additional work hours to meet project deliverables.
  • Participate in mandatory pager rotation.
Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise between Business Users, Project Teams, external Vendors, and Technical Support Teams.
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong working knowledge of Software Development (SDLC) methodology and the ability to apply existing and emerging technologies/architectures to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical problem identification and resolution skills.
  • 5 years of working experience with API/Microservices, Core JAVA, Spring Boot, and Front-end development.
  • Exposure to Data Modelling and Data Architecture.
  • Good knowledge of MongoDB/Cloud SQL and Google Cloud application development/deployment.
  • Experience with change management and version control (Bitbucket/Git).
  • Experience in writing/creating/updating technical documents.
  • Experience in batch job/process scheduling.
