About the Role:
This positionprovides operational leadership to their assigned centers and direct supervision of the Aquatics Operations Coordinator and Child and Youth Coordinator.TheAquaticsand Child and Youth Supervisorcollaborateswith the General Managers and Program Managersto coach, develop and support their assigned Aquatics Operations Coordinatorsand Child and Youth Coordinators.Theyare responsible forrisk management, consistent program/service quality, growth/innovation and ensuring program/service delivery is aligned with our Family UVP and supports membership growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision, coaching and supportthrough role modeling, relationship building and The Y Way Service Standards to staff and volunteers.
- Support the Aquatic Operations Coordinator,Child and Youth Coordinator, and Day Camp Coordinatorswith staff management (including recruitment and onboard) to create engaged, motivated,well trainedteams. Ensure timelines are met and plans support member growth and retention.
- Support Program Manager and Branch General Managers to with annual budget plans. Monitor budget andrecommend, coordinate, and implement approved strategies.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection and Emergency policies and procedures.Monitor risk and responds to emerging risk issues.
- Identifyand address facility or equipment maintenance issues and to execute annual equipment replacement and or program area refurbishment plans.
- Collaborate with Program Managersto ensure programs and services evolve with YMCA Canada updates,establishedtrends, member or community demand or common best practices.
- Foster,establishand maintain effective community relationships and partnerships relevant to the programs and services and market and promote programs to achieve program and financial targets and to support coordinated, integrated servicedelivery.
- Ongoing evaluation of all Swim Programs, ensuring members can access lessons and children are progressing. A continuous improvement plan is in place to ensure sessional swimming lessons are of the highest quality.
- Ensuressystems, administration activitiesleverageYMCA technology and are consistently applied and evolve to support member convenience.
- Knows and reviews all emergency procedures, poolstandardsand best practices; responds to situationsimmediatelyin accordance withYMCA policies, procedures; completes related reports or recommendations asrequired.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a program leadership capacity including experience in program management,budgetingand administration
- University degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Education, or related experience an asset
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
- Flexible work schedule – including early mornings, evenings,weekendsand stat holidays
- Ability to use Microsoft Office andother forms of technology effectively
- Obtain Lifesaving Swim Instructor (LSI) and YMCA Champion - Aquatics within 1 year of hire date
- Will be provided training inObtain Oxygen Administration (O2) within 6 months of hire date
- NCCP FMS (Fundamental Movement Skills) and HIGH Five Certification is considered an asset
- Familiar with Pool Standards and Regulations foroperatingan aquatics facilityis an asset
- Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C, Leadership Certification in Aquatic Supervisor Training (AST), National Lifeguard Instructor (NLI) or First Aid Instructor (FAI)isan asset
- Aquatics Emergency Care (AEC) and National Coaching Certification (NCCP) arean asset
