As a Senior Analytics Technical Consultant You Will… Be responsible for cleansing data and creating data models used to data mine and analyze the data. Your responsibilities will include - Take direction from Senior technical staff on work products that need to be created - Understand company tools and technologies well and demonstrate effective use of them in a customer setting - Provide solutions to problems assigned by the technical lead on the project - Work well with the team in the project to meet the project objectives - Make effective use of the time to deliver a quality work product as agreed with the technical lead on the project. - Perform good quality testing of the work product developed - Escalate technical issues with the team leader for solution - Provide status on tasks assigned in the project to the tech lead and the project manager - Ensure up-to-date knowledge in company and competitive solutions, through self-motivated approach to continuous learning. - Actively participates in knowledge-sharing activities. - Document programs and program flows. - Ensure that programming complies with available standards - Undertake design of applications as assigned by the technical lead. - In smaller projects, acts as a technical lead - Coordinate development-level, system testing and acceptance testing of applications and proposes design changes when applicable. - Design and authors help screens, menus, indices to ensure ease-of-use and consistency. - Lead the technical design, programming and code documentation for entire applications. - Prepare Data Models as required for the application. - Prepare specification documents for other developers as required. Document requirements and other technical documents according to a methodology. - Mentor other consultants as required. - May provide presentations on project under development or projects completed - Focus on the development and enforcement of design standards for Consulting services applications. - Performs other duties as assigned. You Have… - Strong knowledge of data mining and statistics - Experience using tools to manage and analyze data including one or more of Cognos, informatica, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders (IBI), Generation5, Angoss, Peregrine, g5, spss, Teradata, MicroStrategy - Experience with advanced analytic techniques such as generalized linear models, survival analysis or time series analysis forecasting preferred - Ability to translate client requirements in a sales setting into analytical solutions. - Knowledge of the transformations required to build effective data mining and analytical data sets - Ability to interpret analysis results in a simple business language for consumption by the client - Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Nice to Have: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Masters in Statistics (preferred) Travel and Location: - Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time as this is mainly an external client-facing role. Other work can be done from your home or our client’s office in Calgary. - Although ideally located in Calgary, our client is open to individuals who reside anywhere in BC, AB, SK, and MB with close access to an airport. - Our client will consider relocating you to Calgary if you wish.
