Job Description
Teledyne Digital Imaging is a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc. and specializes in the manufacture, design, research and development of high-performance CMOS and CCD image sensors and modular expandable cameras. Teledyne Digital Imaging's products are used worldwide in machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multimedia.
As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Sr. Manager, Customs Compliance.
Position Summary:
The Customs Compliance Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the customs compliance function across all Teledyne business units in Canada. The role demands strong customs compliance expertise with exceptional management, communication, and collaboration skills.
The Senior Customs Compliance Manager will support Teledyne business units in managing traffic and customs compliance, interacting with various functional groups, segment and regional directors, and Teledyne's Corporate International Trade Compliance office.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for ensuring effective customs compliance at multiple business units in accordance with Canadian and international customs laws and regulations.
2. Ensure and support appropriate management accountability for customs compliance in all Canadian business units.
3. Establish and maintain customs compliance procedures and program documentation, including customs documentation, trade data points, recordkeeping, audits, and training.
4. Conduct scheduled reviews for customs activities as outlined within the Global Customs Compliance Manual.
5. Review import and export customs filings for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
6. Provide quarterly and yearly reporting of relevant trade compliance data to CBU Lead, CITC and Canadian Border Services Agency ("CBSA") as required.
7. Conduct regular customs compliance training for senior management and other functions involved in customs compliance.
8. Conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action as required.
9. Supervise assigned customs compliance staff, providing guidance according to established policies.
10. Interact with subordinates and functional peer groups regarding exchange or presentation of information.
11. Pursue new ways to improve the efficiency of customs compliance processes.
12. Manage adherence to prescribed customs procedures.
13. Assist Corporate Legal- International Trade Compliance Office with investigations of any incidences of purported non-compliance.
14. Attend the Corporate International Trade Compliance annual conference and external third-party customs compliance training seminars as required.
15. Other customs compliance duties as assigned.
16. Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
1. Providing technical leadership to lower-level Customs Administrators.
2. Providing general supervision to lower-level professional employees, including hiring, training, and performance appraisal.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a university in a related field.
2. 10-15 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Extensive knowledge of Canadian Customs and experience with customs brokers essential.
4. Ability to apply technical knowledge of regulations to business transactions.
5. Working knowledge of U.S. ITAR & EAR, Canadian import and export laws and regulations.
6. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
7. Strong computer skills, including knowledge of SAP S4 Hana ERP System and MS Office.
8. Eligible for security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
9. Able to travel (domestically/internationally) up to 20%.
