As the Technical Designer for Women’s apparel, you play a critical role in bringing our women’s product vision to life and ensuring every garment delivers exceptional fit, quality, comfort, and craftsmanship. You are the technical authority for your assigned categories, partnering closely with Design, Product Development, and global vendor partners from initial concept through commercialization and production. With a strong eye for detail and a deep understanding of construction and fit, you translate creative intent into technically sound, production‑ready product.
Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact
- Own fit and technical execution for assigned women’s categories from development through production approval
- Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Product Development, discuss fit history when presenting current fit and collaborate with PD for alternative construction options, when necessary, that will not impact the integrity of the product
- Collaborate on technical packages in PLM, focusing on product fit specifications and construction
- Resolve and communicate fit issues & corrections to the Vendor and Product Development team to ensure fit corrections are captured and implemented, within the development and production timelines
- Collaborate with Product Development to minimize sampling and production challenges with the goal of delivering the best product
- Partner with the Senior Technical Designer, Women’s to establish, maintain, and evolve women’s fit blocks, grading rules, and measurement standards, ensuring consistent size, fit, quality, and overall brand integrity across the assortment
- Evaluate fit and quality through review of customer comments, competitive analysis, and along with the Senior Technical Designer, Women’s conduct fit symposiums
- Support the ongoing digital pattern library for all core & repeat styles to support consistency across multiple production locations
- Support process improvements to streamline development and improve speed to market
Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring
- 3-5 years’ experience in women’s apparel, including knits and wovens
- Strong expertise in women’s fit, pattern evaluation, garment construction and grading
- Ability to interpret patterns and effectively communicate precise fit and construction corrections to factories, providing both written and visual details
- Strong organizational and time management skills - ability to manage multiple styles and multiple seasons while adhering to calendar deadlines
- Detail‑oriented, solutions‑focused and proactive with the ability to “think outside the box” to find creative solutions to challenges
- Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Team player - ability to negotiate and build consensus across cross‑functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and PLM data management systems
- Experience working with global supply chains and overseas factories
