The Role

Our Municipal team provides custom solutions that push boundaries to meet the infrastructure demands of today and for the future. We create solutions while considering the impacts to public health, the environment and society. Join our team of experts to help enhance the quality of life in our communities.

KGS Group is currently seeking a Municipal Engineer in our Thunder Bay office. Reporting to the Municipal Assistant Department Head, this position will be responsible for design and construction support on projects for a robust list of clients including major urban centers, municipalities, First Nations, provincial agencies, federal organizations and private industry.

You will support the design, coordination and delivery of a wide range of municipal/transportation infrastructure projects including servicing & land development, tunneling, flood protection, water treatment & distribution, stormwater management, wastewater collection & treatment, recreational & waterfront facilities, urban roadways and highways. Your projects will be diverse in size, complexity and location with many providing the opportunity to develop innovative, practical solutions to solve complex challenges. You will work in a collaborative environment with extensive support from our planning, design and construction staff throughout our multi-disciplinary firm.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with designs, drawings and specifications for a variety of infrastructure projects
- Provide on-site construction support and inspection of active projects
- Assist with associated reports, studies and contract documents
- Assist with proposals and expressions of interest
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams from initial conceptualization through to final completion
- Communicate with clients, contractors, utilities, agencies and stakeholders
- Support contract administration of construction assignments
- Participate in and promote KGS Group’s safety-first culture

About You

Some highlights could include, but are not limited to:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- P.Eng or E.I.T. designation
- Experience supporting the planning, design and implementation of various municipal/transportation projects (urban roadways, rural roadways, active transportation infrastructure, parking lots, sewers, water mains, culverts, outfalls)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with associated engineering software (examples include AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation,)
- Familiarity with relevant municipal and guidance documents
