Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent

Role Overview

Reporting to Maintenance Manager, this leadership role is critical in ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of all mechanical maintenance functions across the site.

Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise a team of mechanical maintenance supervisors and tradespeople.

- Oversee day-to-day mechanical maintenance operations to ensure equipment reliability, plant uptime, and efficient resource utilization.

- Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs aligned with mill production goals.

- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.

- Plan and execute mechanical shutdown activities, including budgeting, scheduling, manpower planning, and safety compliance.

- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable OH&S legislation, ISO 140001 and AV Group NB Inc. policies, procedures, & guidelines.

- Support capital project implementation, including design input, installation oversight, and commissioning support.

- Monitor maintenance KPIs and drive continuous improvement in maintenance performance, cost control, and asset management.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years post-secondary education. Preference will be given to those with a Mechanical background;

- 3 years’ experience in a similar position;

- Previous Pulp Mill experience would be considered an asset;

- Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset.

- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.

- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
