Overview
Harbinger is working with a leading accounting firm in the Haldimand area, providing comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse range of clients. Our client, a well-established public accounting firm in Simcoe, Ontario, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of client engagements, provide expertise in Notice to Reader (NTR) financial statements, and contribute to a collaborative and professional office environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Notice to Reader (NTR) financial statements and working paper files.
- Handle bookkeeping assignments, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and payroll support.
- Prepare personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns.
- Assist with GST/HST filings and other compliance reporting.
- Support senior staff with engagement files and client deliverables.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with firm and professional standards.
- Communicate directly with clients in a professional and responsive manner.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–4+ years of experience in a public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of NTR financial statements, bookkeeping, and tax compliance (T1/T2).
- Proficiency with CaseWare, TaxPrep (or similar accounting/tax software), and QuickBooks or related bookkeeping platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be available to work in-office in Simcoe, Ontario.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $60,000 – $80,000, based on experience.
