Laboratory Clerk

Position Summary
Cariboo Memorial Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Relief full-time Laboratory Clerk to join their team in Williams Lake, BC This position works rotating days 08:30 to 16:30.

This position is anticipated to end September 2025 or upon return of incumbent.

What will you work on?
This position performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties such as:

1. Scheduling appointments, performing computer entry, filing, telephoning, faxing, and invoicing;
2. Receives and registers patients by obtaining necessary information for patient data and test entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) according to established procedures;
3. Receives, processes, and prepares (centrifuges) patient samples in accordance with established procedures;
4. Prioritizes workflow and prepares (packages) samples for send-out in accordance with all transportation regulations and procedures;
5. Mails and distributes patient reports as required;
6. Distributes, files, retrieves, and disposes of laboratory specimens, slides, and blocks;
7. Maintains laboratory inventory and supplies;
8. Maintains a variety of records such as standing orders and requisitions, temperature records, cleaning and disinfection logs, inventory logs;
9. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience

1. Grade 12, Plus
2. Two year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
3. Completion of an administered 5 minute typing certificate of 45wpm in the last 48 months from an approved institution (non-supervised tests are not accepted)
4. Completion of a Medical Terminology course.
