General Accountant

The Avid Group in North York is looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable individual for a full-time General Accountant position.

SCHEDULE:

Our office is open from Monday to Friday, and the schedule for the position is:Mon-Fri | 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

What You Get To Do

Reporting to the Controller, the General Accountant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The General Accountant will work closely with the accounting team and collaborate with other departments to support efficient and effective financial practices.

- Perform day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll support
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Complete bank reconciliations and support cash flow monitoring
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate data and analysis
- Monitor compliance with internal financial policies and procedures
- Assist with external audits by preparing required documentation and schedules
- Ensure compliance with tax requirements by supporting filings and liaising with external advisors
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and process documentation
- Provide support to the Controller and CFO as needed
- Additional duties as assigned

What You Bring To Us:

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation (or working towards it) considered an asset
- 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (Excel in particular)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting
