Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

- The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Education, Business Administration, or a related field. Or a relevant combination of education, professional development and occupational experience in policy analysis and development.
- Certifications related to higher education policy, policy analysis, or data analytics is considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of seven (7) years of recent and related occupational experience in policy analysis, development, and research, ideally within a higher education setting, government, or public sector.
- Demonstrated experience leading policy development projects, including conducting research, stakeholder consultations, and drafting policy recommendations.
- Familiarity with post-secondary education policies, provincial/federal legislation, and the unique challenges facing community colleges.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant policy or research tools.
- You have proven track record of delivering data-driven recommendations and reports to senior leadership.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.

- Expertise in organizing, maintaining, and controlling access to policy-related documents and records, ensuring accuracy, version control, and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with document management systems and tools is essential.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

- The Policy Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic goals of the College by leading the development, analysis, and evaluation of institutional policies. This role requires a deep understanding of higher education policies, as well as strong analytical and research skills to provide informed recommendations that enhance the operational and academic framework of the College.
- This position oversees NSCC's Policy Governance and Management practices and processes on behalf of Executive Council and Policy Sponsors, in accordance with the Policy Development, Renewal and Approval policy and procedures.
- On behalf of the Office of Learning & Transformation, the Policy Analyst provides Executive Council with recommendations on policy development and renewal priorities based on areas of high risk or strategic importance that supports them in providing strategic direction and oversight responsibility for all NSCC policies and procedures.
- The Policy Analyst works collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including Executive Council and senior leaders as well as external partners, to ensure that policies are aligned with regulatory requirements and institutional priorities.
