ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a full-time Data Scientist to join our Toronto team on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science, the Data Scientist will drive the development of high-quality, efficient, and scalable machine-learning solutions. In this role, you will leverage your data science, analytics, and engineering expertise to solve complex business problems, enhance customer targeting, and optimize marketing strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing strategists, data engineers, and product managers, to deliver impactful data-driven solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

1. Responsible for designing, building, and implementing machine learning models for marketing campaigns to ensure the campaign meets business objectives.
2. Collaborate with a team of marketing and data professionals to plan and execute the business with best-in-class ML models and creatively apply these models.
3. Utilize optimization and simulation expertise to research and recommend the best approaches for solving our business problems.
4. Build pragmatic, scalable, and statistically rigorous solutions that can be applied across products and partners by developing statistical and machine learning methodologies.
5. Continuously improve the models and algorithms through research, testing, and iteration.
6. Elevate the data science discipline by aligning with other data scientists on best practices, automation, and standardization of all advanced analytical solutions, and end-to-end modelling processes, and offer optimizations.
7. Drive execution through fast iteration.

YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:

1. Over 3 years of experience in developing, testing, and applying machine learning algorithms.
2. Proficiency in machine learning, optimization, big data, predictive analytics, time series analysis, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, and visualization tools, with a solid understanding of best practices in data science.
3. Strong programming skills with SQL, Python (and/or R), and associated machine-learning packages.
4. Comprehensive and solid data knowledge and skills, with a good understanding of data warehousing. Experience with handling large, imperfect data is an asset.
5. Experience with implementing ML solutions on the cloud (e.g., Snowflake, AWS) preferred.
6. Ability to communicate/present complex ideas/analysis in a concise, business-friendly manner.
7. Natural curiosity to solve problems and find meaning in complex data sets & customer behaviour analysis.
8. Strong business acumen to apply recommendations in the proper commercial context.
9. Masters or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields).
