Position Overview
As a member of the Research and Development team, this individual will be able to lead product development projects from concept to launch; this role will focus on forward-looking innovation initiatives. This role reports to the manager of R&D and the position is located in the new Cambridge facility.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the procurement, operations, Innovation and Brand teams to execute our renovation and innovation plan with excellence:
- Progress exploratory new product initiatives with an understanding of capabilities and limitations in bakery and confection products.
- Participate in plant trials and production runs as needed—some schedule flexibility is required to accommodate early‑morning, evening, or off‑shift production times.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate has a degree in food science or culinary
- 2 – 5 years of R&D experience in food manufacturing
- Bakery and/or confection Research and Development would be considered an asset
- Passion for innovation and creativity with an excellent sense of taste, flavour balance and texture
- Ability to multi-task numerous projects and manage changing priorities
- Independent worker, able to work autonomously but comfortable working in a collaborative, team environment
- Solid understanding of ingredient functionality, formulation, food safety and manufacturing practices
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Meets milestones on‑time and on‑budget
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) along with using Genesis nutritional software; SAP experience a plus
- Passion for food, efficient manufacturing practices, and product development
- This position will require periodic and project dependant travel (25%) to other Dare manufacturing or co‑manufacturing sites within Canada and the US
