- Assign journalists and videographers on the Montréal team, and monitor the reports produced so that they are based on broadcast and digital needs

- Identify original reporting ideas, and ensure that they are executed by team members

- Assist journalists in scripting reports

- Create a production schedule, and organize the delivery of reports based on program needs

- Schedule videographers’ daily work together with the operations manager

- Determine the tools required for the production they are tasked with; ensure compliance with specified direction and production criteria

- Lead the team’s morning production meetings

- Serve as the point of contact for the productions assigned to all departments

- Ensure that all content needed for a show’s production is delivered at the appropriate time, whether it pertains to journalists’ topics; images from local, national or international feeds, or elements from the Web

- Produce digital news stories for the Web in collaboration with journalists

- Occasionally write texts to be read on air by the news anchor or a journalist

- Ensure compliance with current ethical standards and that information transmitted on any of the platforms is true and verified

- Coach journalists on their on-air delivery and reporting

- Manage their assigned budget parameters

- Ensure compliance with the regulatory conditions of the newscast assigned to them

- Manage the schedules of the editorial staff

Critical Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, film, communications or any other training relevant to the position

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a newsroom

- Solid command of production technology, for both TV and the Web

- Extensive knowledge of local, national and international news

- Strong ability to identify the best topics, and demonstrated creativity

- High tolerance for stress, and the ability to work under tight deadlines

- Demonstrated autonomy

- Experience in team management

- Recognized for their leadership qualities

- Fluent in French, good knowledge of English

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
