Learn more about the role Your Contribution Your main responsibilities Protostatix, a division of Englobe, is currently seeking Structural Engineers for our Edmonton office. We are also considering candidates for our Calgary office. - Must be proficient in wood construction projects. - Perform structural site investigations, inspections, reviews, gather data, and prepare technical reports, site review/inspection reports, and compliance letters. - Describe existing structural conditions and provide engineering solutions through Structural Condition Assessments and engineering studies. - Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, light-gauge metal, and precast, adhering to the latest applicable building codes and standards. - Manage and generate deliverables (drawings & specifications) for structural projects with accuracy and completeness. - Manage projects to meet schedule and budget targets. - Interact regularly with clients and contractors throughout project duration. - Review designs and drawings from junior team members and engineers-in-training, providing mentorship and feedback. - Review contractor submittals and shop drawings, developing design solutions and modifications as needed based on site conditions. - Market our services to new and existing clients through business development initiatives. - Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules. Your Profile What makes you unique - Registered with the provincial professional engineering association (e.g., APEGA). - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering. - Experience in Wood Construction Projects. - 5+ years of experience in structural design of buildings and components, including renovations and new structures. - Extensive knowledge of Canadian building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, ACI, NBCC, etc.). - Experience in project management and contract administration. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce detailed reports and specifications. - Experience with structural analysis and modeling software such as ETABS, SAFE, SFRAME, etc. - Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team. - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy environment. - Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Alberta, including remote areas.
