Performs, produces, and records a variety of defined diagnostic imaging examinations including HIDA, Sentinel Nodes, WBC scans, VQs, Bones, Renals, Gastric emptying, Octreotides, Iodine therapies, Spect CTs, MIBGs. Ensures that the quality of patient care is maintained at a high level. Review documentation to ensure that there are no errors in patient identification and that the correct examination is performed. Communicates to the patient; prepares, explains, and positions the patient for the examination. Prepares and/or administers Radiopharmaceutical agents as authorized. Reviews images for completeness of examination, sorts images, and checks with the Radiologist when necessary. Maintains quality control in the performance of all procedures; is responsible for the quality and accuracy of images produced, as per departmental policies and procedures. Records all necessary data in patient charts as required and appropriate. Ensures that all data entry and paperwork requirements are completed for each patient. Is responsible for safety measures and the general care and cleanliness of their respective area, particularly as it applies to infection control and radiation safety measures. Operates, maintains and reports malfunctions of all instrumentation and equipment. Performs daily Quality Assurance Exams on Cameras. Swipes and surveys for radioactive contamination daily. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of nuclear medicine procedures for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. As a NMT I, you will perform Nuclear Medicine procedures as described in the department procedure manual using a wide range of equipment such as gamma cameras, computers, ECG monitors, cardiac stress equipment, and radiation safety devices. Completion of diploma from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Radiopharmacy skills: Able to label WBCs and RBCs; Make up Radiopharmaceutical kits; Draw up radiopharmaceutical doses; Administration/Receiving therapeutic doses; Storage and disposal of radioactivity. On Call - Ability to work independently. Mentoring - Ability to work with students. Collaboration - Ability to work well with Radiologists. Current Basic Life Support certification. ACMDTT certified. Working knowledge of Connect Care. CTIC certified. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification.
