Nuclear Medicine / CT Technologist - Casual Position

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nuclear Medicine / CT Technologist to join our team. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of patient care while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Scope and Overall Responsibilities:

· Reports directly to the Nuclear Medicine and X-ray Supervisors.

· Performs all Nuclear Medicine (NM) as well as Computed Tomography (CT) diagnostic and interventional examinations to a high standard, with minimal supervision.

· Delivers safe, efficient services while ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Prepare and perform a range of standardized and complex procedures as directed by Radiologists.

· Operate and maintain automated and non-automated equipment, including Nuclear Medicine systems and related technologies.

· Ensure all NM equipment functions correctly, including completion of regular quality control procedures.

· Maintain safety standards and cleanliness within the NM area, with particular attention to radiation safety and infection control.

· Perform Diagnostic and Interventional CT procedures as required.

· Conduct Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scans as part of routine duties.

· Work collaboratively with CT department staff to support integrated, cross-modality operations.

· Instruct patients on procedures and respond to questions with professionalism and care.

· Support onboarding and training of new staff as requested by the NM Supervisor, including procedural instruction and departmental orientation.

· Maintain accurate quality control across all performed procedures.

· Assist Radiologists and colleagues as needed in daily operations.

· Report equipment issues, inventory concerns, or operational challenges to the NM Supervisor in a timely manner.

· Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and exam results.

· Participate in company in-services and stay current with evolving practices and technologies.

· Ensure compliance with all NM license conditions and regulations under the CNSC Act.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:

· In-depth knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures and protocols.

· Effective communication skills with both patients and team members.

· Ability to perform all required NM views in accordance with Radiologist protocols.

· Proficient in the operation of imaging equipment and related computer systems, including basic troubleshooting.

· Cross-trained or proficient in CT and BMD procedures is preferred.

Education and Experience:

· Registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

· Valid Nuclear Medicine designation through CAMRT and/or ACMDTT.

· Enhanced Practice in CT required; Computed Tomography Imaging Certificate (CTIC) preferred.

Special Requirements for the Job:

· Self-motivated and capable of independent decision-making.

· Strong commitment to patient-centered care.

· CPR certification is an asset.
