This role is a full-time, permanent position. The preferred regular working hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., although some flexibility is available.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks, who can work independently, as well as part of a close-knit team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaising with clients including conflict checks for potential clients
- Maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system
- Preparing and editing various correspondence and documents
- Proofreading and editing documents
- Book court dates and communicate with registries
- Organize, assemble and draft chambers records, books of authorities and court pleadings, including but not limited to petitions, affidavits, and notice of applications
- Draft, maintain and update lists of documents
- General administrative duties such as time entry, billing, calendar management and travel arrangements
Key Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- 7+ years of experience as a litigation legal administrative assistant in a Canadian law firm, with preference given to those with labour and employment experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- The ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A professional & positive demeanor
- Sound judgment including the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- A legal administration assistant certificate/diploma is preferred
- Experience with dictation
- Strong computer skills in Word/Excel/Outlook
- Experience with Soluno and NetDocuments would be considered an asset
In addition to a competitive salary range of $75,000 – $85,000 we offer a variety of benefits, including:
