We’re looking for a skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our team. This is a key technical position responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of our corporate Geographic Information System (GIS). You’re a detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for geospatial technology and its applications in community planning and service delivery. You excel at managing multiple projects, ensuring data integrity, and supporting users with clear, effective solutions. In this role, you’ll help design and maintain GIS systems, lead project phases, evaluate new technologies, develop data standards, and provide training and technical guidance across the organization. Your work will support a wide range of corporate and departmental initiatives that depend on accurate and insightful spatial data. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and implement GIS applications, tools, and workflows. - Lead GIS projects, defining objectives, scope, and deliverables. - Maintain and update spatial and attribute data using automated and manual methods. - Analyze and improve existing GIS processes for efficiency and automation. - Respond to requests for maps, data, and analysis; create custom queries and scripts. - Perform spatial and attribute analysis and prepare visual and written reports. - Provide technical support, training, and advice to staff and departments. - Research and recommend system enhancements and new GIS technologies. - Prepare and maintain documentation and technical records related to GIS work. Qualifications and Experience - Completion of a post-diploma program in Geographic Information Systems or a related discipline, plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Strong knowledge of GIS software, tools, and hardware (e.g. "ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS"). - Understanding of spatial database design, data modeling, and integration techniques. - Experience with scripting and customization tools (e.g. "Python, ModelBuilder, SQL"). - Knowledge of municipal mapping principles, coordinate geometry, and survey computations. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Ability to train and support a diverse range of users effectively.
