Job Description

The Entry to School (ETS) service will aim to support families with children ages 3 to 5 who are entering school for the first time. Children enrolled in ETS will receive six-months of group programming focusing on building skills prior to their entry to school followed by six-months of transition supports and individualized consultation. As an ETS service provider, Kinark will deliver ETS as part of the York Simcoe Autism Network (YSAN).

Job Summary: The ASD Consultant will be responsible for providing individualized consultation, and group-based programming under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team to support students entering school for the first time. The successful incumbent will be assigned to work within York or Simcoe region. This role may include supporting Kinark’s Fee-for-service and / or Foundational Family Services.

You may be scheduled to work evenings, weekends, split shifts, or shorter shifts of less than 7 hours per day. You will be required to work out of other Kinark sites from time to time based on operational needs. As well, you may be assigned to work in different programs and services within the Autism division of Kinark and your primary work location may be reassigned within a 50 kilometer radius based on operational needs.

This is a temporary, full-time position with a contract length of 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

- Provide expert Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) clinical and consultative support to school teams and families.
- Develop effective evidence-based practices for students with ASD in the educational environment.
- Deliver school readiness curriculum in group-based settings.
- Conduct individualized parent and mediator coaching.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to meet program outcomes.
- Develop resource materials and facilitate training opportunities for educators and caregivers.
- Complete behavioural assessments.
- Participate in treatment planning, program and report writing.
- Support the delivery of OAP services.

Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
- Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum three years experience in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis and ASD
- Experience with school-based transitions and the delivery of consultation-based services will be considered a strong asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Travel in the York and/or Simcoe area is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
- Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration.
- Some evening / weekend work may be required.

Equivalent combination of education & experience will be considered.
