Programmer Analyst (Support and Operations)

- Supports Windows-based police applications, macros, templates, scripts, and user accounts.
- Tests and installs new software and upgrades existing software and hardware.
- Provides timeline estimates of development and support work assigned.
- Provides technical “help desk” support for systems and users.
- Schedules and performs backups for systems software and data.
- Provides technical support to facilitate the round-the-clock operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Degree in computer science plus four years' progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.

OR

- Successful completion of a recognized, two-year, post-secondary computer technology or business systems program plus six years' progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Considerable knowledge of Unix, Linux and MS Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of Informix, SQL Server and security-related applications.
- Knowledge of local, wide area and wireless networks.
- Knowledge of, and ability to support, Microsoft Office and Exchange.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
- Ability to respond dependably to user and system demands.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including making group presentations.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and individually.
- Ability to concentrate effort and focus on assignments.
- Skill in time management.

Hours of Work:

- Shift work and call-backs may be involved.
- Stand-by is mandatory for designated employees when operationally required. The employee must report to work immediately and be fit for duty.

$85,754.16to $89,817.84 per annum (2026rates)
