The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Manager for Automation, Integration, and System Protection Projects engineering/construction projects. As leader of the project team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of the project in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with requirements and standards as set forth in the project contract(s) for medium-to-large size projects. This will be a challenging role in which you will be involved in the engineering and design scope of the project from initiation through close-out. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, control, and close-out of complex, multi-discipline projects. The successful candidate must have exceptional leadership skills and possess the ability to successfully navigate through and resolve complex and oftentimes multi-functional challenges associated with large projects.
What You’ll Do
Project Management
- Provide strategic project management leadership for large and complex projects
- Lead medium-to-large engineering projects from initiation through close-out for Plant SCADA
- Responsible for managing all aspects of project execution, including scope, stakeholder management, schedule, budget, and quality, within the Plant SCADA Lead internal and external project meetings, including progress reviews and problem-solving sessions
- Develop and implement project plans, including risk management and mitigation strategies
- Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations
- Ensure availability or seeks out adequate resources to support the project
- Proficient in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, understanding consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations to support project scope, schedule, and cost objectives
- Serve as point of contact for clients, regularly updating project status and addressing any concerns, issues, or risks
- Manages a collaborative project team to ensure each key functional project discipline is meeting the planned project scope, schedule, and cost
- Lead overall project – coaching, conflict resolution, facilitation, motivation, and negotiation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Foster and sustain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders encountered throughout the course of work
- Work collaboratively with the Project Coordinators and Project Controls Specialists to ensure project schedules and costs are managed and tracked to plan
- Maintain customer focus to meet or exceed customer expectations and represent Ulteig in a professional and courteous manner
Schedule & Cost Planning
- Ensure that project timelines are maintained and milestones are met
- Monitor project progress and take corrective actions to keep projects on schedule, along with keeping the project plan up-to-date
- Monitor and control project budgets to prevent overspending
- Keep track of all financial transactions related to the project
- Monitor and control project costs
Project Reporting & Compliance
- Monitor ongoing project health and track key metrics
- Adhere to Ulteig governance policies and procedures for project success
- Demonstrates excellent leadership, verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Achieves results by problem-solving, setting priorities, and organizing
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that technical aspects of the project are properly managed
- Ensure that best practices are shared and implemented effectively across projects and teams
- Strive for individual excellence by seeking challenges and self-development, demonstrating high levels of expertise, and showing commitment, self-confidence, and integrity
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field
- 5-7 years of direct project management experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering environment
- Advanced technical engineering knowledge, with the ability to understand and resolve complex engineering challenges
- Advanced technical engineering knowledge of Process Controls, SCADA/PLC, RTU, IT/OT, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- PMP, PE, or higher/equivalent certification preferred
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Planview Adaptive Work), with intermediate understanding and experience of scheduling and cost planning
- Microsoft Dynamics (Finance & Operations) experience preferred
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License and ability to meet company driving standards
- Must have the ability to travel across the United States and Canada
- Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $93,300 - $126,200 CAD
