Overview – Inventory & Accounting Specialist
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the incumbent liaises with Associate and Store Administrators/Accountants to ensure that store system functions are reporting accurately and timely and ensures the integrity of all financial data transferring from the stores. The incumbent monitors reports, highlights variances to be verified and performs audits to examine inventory and shrinkage levels.
Primary Responsibilities – Inventory & Accounting Specialist
- Performs store visitations to develop and implement training programs for store administrators and accountants to ensure all policies and procedures are delivered and duties are performed effectively and timely.
- Audits, monitors and reviews systems and inventory control procedures and investigates variances between Materials Management System (MMS) and Lawson to improve shrink control and effect bottom line results.
- Reviews financial data and reports for each period end to disseminate information to appropriate regional offices.
- Attends new store inventories to assist Associates determine inventory cut off and balance inventory counts. Reviews all MMS reports to ensure accuracy.
- Liaises with Retail Accounting Department and District Managers to report on store visitations, shrink, damages, cycle counts, margins for postal and lotteries and to resolve any inquiries from the stores.
- Provides support during acquisitions and Associate turnovers to ensure inventory counts are accurate and all systems, including accounting and inventory, are installed correctly.
- Attends high shrink inventories to investigate any potential issues and explore opportunities to minimize risks.
- Provides assistance to Associates to hire store accounting staff, complete initial training, monitor performance and provide further training as required.
- Performs audit service follow ups to ensure stores have implemented audit recommendations.

- Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one‑on‑one or group situations, or over the telephone.
- Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof‑reading is required.
- Computer skills to produce and interpret reports, documents and presentations. Knowledge of inventory management and accounting software.
- Business acumen – advanced understanding of quality standards relative to inventory management and accounting procedures.
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with associates and colleagues including senior management.
Experience – Inventory & Accounting Specialist
- Greater than three years, but less than or equal to five years of inventory management/accounting or equivalent experience.
Education – Inventory & Accounting Specialist
- Post‑secondary courses in, or knowledge of, inventory management and accounting systems equivalent to a college diploma in Business, Inventory Management, Accounting, or equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses or Registration – Inventory & Accounting Specialist
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Store Technology Specialist
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the incumbent provides training for retail staff on store systems including POS, Merchandise Management (MMS), Workforce Management (WFM), Health Watch Next Generation (HWNG), Telephones, Lottery and Pharmacy Systems, etc. to ensure all users are equipped to utilize all technology effectively. The incumbent performs equipment checks and liaises with IT and the Help Desk to resolve issues promptly.
Primary Responsibilities – Store Technology Specialist
- Performs regular store visits.
- Provides store systems computer training for all store staff to ensure that all operational expectations are achieved and each retail outlet is operating optimally.
- Develops and implements a training plan and timeline to facilitate smooth transitions for soft and grand openings of new stores, relocations and acquisitions.
- Performs system audits to assess user skills and highlight further training requirements to ensure all systems are maximized for overall operational effectiveness.
- Maintains current knowledge of changing and emerging technologies to offer recommendations to improve processes.
- Inspects store systems to ensure all equipment and systems are operating optimally and ensure any issues or concerns are resolved.
- Responds to telephone and email queries to resolve concerns or issues in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Liaises with IT and Help Desk to ensure that all systems updates are completed accurately and to resolve escalated issues or concerns.
- Sets up and tests the working functions of all IT equipment, systems, phones and intranet for all new capital projects to ensure a smooth transition for all new, relocations or acquisitions.

- Valid driver’s license.
