About the role
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Reporting to the Coordinator Woman and Children’s Program you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centred care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
As a member of the Women & Children’s Resource Team, you will be part of a dynamic team of highly skilled and knowledgeable Nurses who provide specialty care to patients within our program. The Women & Children’s Resource Team is an opportunity for Nurses to acquire and maintain competencies in the Women & Children’s Program which includes Paediatrics, Maternal Newborn, Neonatal Intensive Care and Labour & Delivery. Women & Children’s Resource Team Nurses are scheduled in accordance with the ONA Collective Agreement.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Recent experience in Maternity, Perinatal, Neonatal or Paediatric nursing with experience in breastfeeding support and the care of complex patient populations, including postoperative surgical patients
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
- Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurses (RPN) when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
- Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
- Strong interprofessional and communication skills
- Central Venous Line Management
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or recent continuing education in Perinatal nursing, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Fetal Health Surveillance, lactation support, perinatal, neonatal or paediatric nursing, Emergency Nurses Paediatric Course (ENPC)
- Certification from a formal Perioperative Nursing Course or demonstrated continuing education in Perioperative Nursing
- Recent experience working with cardio‑respiratory monitoring in a critical care setting
Salary
Salary Range: $40,240 to 57,680
