Overview:
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be building artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for our customers. Our solutions are developed by small, focused agile teams of data scientists and developers. You will be applying a wide variety of models to very large electronic communication archives to classify and understand communication content. You'll have the opportunity to work in machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, LLMs (large language models), and/or generative AI. You also get to tackle interesting and engaging problems related to scalability and high availability in big data environments.
This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the best data scientists in Vancouver and apply your craft in an environment that encourages creative thinking and collaboration.
What you will be doing:
1. Work closely with other data scientists and developers in building and deploying various machine learning models.
2. Execute all steps in the data science process from understanding business requirements to deploying models.
3. Produce reports detailing model performance.
4. Take initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating with others on cross-cutting technical issues.
5. Participate in design review, code review, sprint planning, and other Agile artifacts.
6. Collaborate with Product Management on user story generation and refinement.
7. Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities with colleagues.
8. Mentor junior and intermediate data scientists via pairing and reviews.
9. Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes.
What you must have:
1. 5+ years of experience with solving machine learning problems.
2. BSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject or equivalent work experience.
3. Experience working with very large data sets in an enterprise-wide application environment.
4. Experience with Python and Bash.
5. Experience with common machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, TensorRT, and others.
6. Experience mentoring junior and intermediate data scientists.
7. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves:
1. MSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject (considered 1 additional year of experience).
2. PhD in a STEM or Linguistics subject (considered 2 additional years of experience).
3. Data collection and cleaning experience.
4. Data engineering skills.
5. Experience with:
1. Acoustic or language models for speech recognition.
2. Natural language processing models.
3. Large language models.
4. Kubernetes and microservices.
5. Working in an agile development environment.
Salary/Rate Range: $120,000—$130,000 CAD
