These pillars serve as the key philosophical principles to be used in the development and service of all care to patients and families at SHC. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN, Clinic Nurse) role will be assigned to the general pediatrics clinic and support peds urology, GI and Tourette's clinics working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in the Outpatient Children's Health Clinics at South Health Campus. The team includes registered nurses, physicians, health care aides, clerks, allied health and other service providers at South Health Campus and in the community. The LPN will be responsible for clinic duties that will provide effective and efficient patient and family-centered care including overseeing clinic flow, history taking, assessments, assisting with minor procedures and specimen collection, patient teaching (individual or group), and completing referrals to community resources for complex patients, follow up for perinatal loss patients/family, provide mentorship to staff and contribute to the continuity of care within the clinic setting and with the Women and Children's Health program. This position will share equally in any shift or weekend responsibilities that may be expected. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Recent (within the last 2 years) level II Neonatal Nursing experience required, more than 2 years preferred. Recent experience in an Outpatient setting preferred. Experience using Connect Care ambulatory clinic nurse and Netcare preferred.
