Responsibilities

- Manage complex benefits programs in Canada and the United States with a focus on data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
- Lead the full-cycle administration of benefits programs, including health and dental, pension, short-term disability, and long-term disability plans, in coordination with People & Culture, Finance, and Payroll.
- Address employee questions and concerns, including with respect to enrollment, benefit plan design, claims, and other matters.
- Manage benefits program changes, including coordination, approval, updates to plan and internal documentation, evaluation of rate changes, and communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage annual benefits renewal processes, including annual rate setting in partnership with Finance.
- Provide plan design change recommendations based on market research, plan utilization, financial analysis, and employee feedback.
- Analyze and provide ongoing reporting of benefit plan utilization and financial performance.
- Plan and implement effective employee and leader communications and education for benefits and wellness programs, in collaboration with the total rewards team.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the benefits administration team.
- Partnerships with People & Culture, Finance, Payroll, Diversity & Inclusion, and business leaders.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure performance aligns with company expectations.
- Assist in overall communication and education of EllisDon's Total Rewards and Wellness Programs.
- Obtain employee feedback with regards to benefits programs.

Is this the right role for you?

- College Diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or equivalent program or work experience.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) is an asset.
- 7+ years of experience in benefits design, management, and administration.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including managing a remote team.
- Experience in a dynamic organization operating in unionized and non-unionized environments.
- Strong expertise in program design and administration of U.S. and Canada benefits in multinational organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and change management skills with the ability to influence decisions.
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to handle challenging situations.
- Exceptional data analysis skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Ability to build strong relationships across diverse backgrounds.
- Strong project management and process improvement skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with urgency.
- Experience with various benefits platforms including Workday.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
