The opportunityWe have a new opportunity for an Investment Analyst to join our Credit Funds team Based in Toronto, you will be a key part of the team focused on credit fund investments globally, playing a role in evaluating investment opportunities, executing transactions, and monitoring existing portfolio investments. This is your chance to define and differentiate yourself as an investor and build strategic relationships with best-in-class external managers.Who you'll work withThe Credit team is a group of over forty professionals who invest across the full spectrum of credit products, employing a wide variety of investment styles including deep dive fundamental analysis, structured credit, thematic strategies, enhanced indexing, quantitative and systematic strategies, and fund investments.The mandate of the group’s Credit Funds business is to produce strong risk-adjusted returns by investing with external managers in various credit-related strategies globally, including private and public credit, structured finance, and special situations.Reporting to a Director, you will help support the Credit Funds team’s efforts across the investment lifecycle. As part of a dynamic Capital Markets environment, you will be exposed to the different strategies and risk-taking styles within the broader group through regular interactions. You’ll join a collaborative team where your ideas and perspectives are valued. What you'll doSupport the due diligence of new managers and conduct research to support the evaluation of investment opportunitiesConduct investment analysis to drive meaningful insights and support decision-making based on data (e.g. public market equivalent analysis, manager performance vs. peer sets, beta and correlation analysis, portfolio cash flow modelling, fee modelling)Support deal execution by preparing investment approval materials and other ad-hoc reports, presentations, analyses and projectsBuild relationships with existing and prospective external credit managers by attending meetings, AGMs, and industry eventsFacilitate interaction between our credit managers and other Ontario Teachers’ investment teams regarding co-investments, market views, sharing of best practicesAccurately monitor and report on key drivers of risk/exposure and profit/loss across individual managers, strategies and the overall Credit Funds portfolioWork with the Risk team to ensure the portfolio’s risk is accurately measured and modelledTake ownership for analytical dashboards and reportingWhat you'll need~1 year of relevant work experience (including co-op / internships in pension plans, credit funds, asset managers, private equity funds, hedge funds, fund-of-funds, investment banks, transaction advisory); experience in fund investments is advantageousUndergraduate/post-graduate degree in finance or a related technical discipline (economics, business, engineering, math, computer scienceStrong understanding of fundamental financial, investment and valuation concepts (basic financial accounting, capital structure, valuation methodologies); knowledge of credit instruments and related investment strategies is advantageousExcellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis/financial modellingHigh proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg is an assetPreference given to those with strong quantitative and programming skills (Python, VBA, SQL, Matlab, C, or C++)Strong communication skills and a keen ability to convey technical information visuallyStrong work ethic with an ability to balance priorities, work independently, and meet tight timelines with limited supervisionHigh commitment to being a team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skillsAbility and willingness to travel as required#LI-OTPP #LI-WC1 #LI-HybridWhat we’re offering Pay-for-performance environment that offers competitive salary and incentiveNumerous opportunities for professional growth and developmentComprehensive employer paid benefits coverageRetirement income through a defined benefit pension plan The opportunity to invest back into the fund through our Deferred Incentive ProgramA flexible/hybrid work environment combining in office collaboration and remote workingCompetitive time offOur Flexible Travel Program gives you the option to work abroad in another region/country for up to a month each yearEmployee discount programs including Edvantage and PerkopolisAt Ontario Teachers', diversity is one of our core strengths.
