Responsibilities:
- Oversee the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and operation of all equipment, machinery, and building systems.
- Preventative maintenance on all equipment to minimize downtime, extend asset life, ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain a work order driven maintenance program to ensure equipment and repairs are completed and tracked efficiently.
- Recommend procedures and programs to improve operations and use of equipment.
- Responsible for performing hands‑on maintenance and repairs on facility equipment as needed, and regularly communicating and collaborating with contractors.
- Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture; actively participate in and oversee health and safety initiatives, including workplace inspections, safety observations, and training sessions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant OH&S, fire code, electrical, building, and environmental regulations, and support site audits to ensure all requirements are met.
- Manage energy, water, and utility consumption, implementing and leading improvement initiatives to enhance sustainability and reduce operational costs.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance colleagues, fostering a high‑performance culture focused on safety, quality, and efficiency in accordance with Company’s policies, Collective Agreement, and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing daily work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and conducting regular team meetings.
- Facilitate and execute special projects as required, including preparing business cases (ROI), defining scope of work, and managing vendors from initiation through project completion.
- Operate within established budget requirements, managing maintenance expenditures, spare parts inventory, and labor costs effectively.
- Assist in the development of annual maintenance budgets, providing forecasts for repairs, capital expenditures, and operational costs. Track spending diligently and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical diploma and/or related specialized training considered an asset.
- Detail Oriented – Ability to pay close attention to details and maintain accurate records.
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with tact, diplomacy, and business acumen, enabling effective interaction and management of diverse personalities and work styles across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrates exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, combined with a strong mechanical aptitude, to effectively identify and resolve complex issues.
- MS Office – Proficient computer skills to produce effective reports, documents and presentations.
