Reporting to:Homecare Manager

Summary of Duties:

The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for providing personalized care services under the guidance of the Homecare Manager/Nurse, adhering to the client’s care plan.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

- Facilitate client appointments with home care nurses or managers, and ensure adherence to client schedules.
- Assisting with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, skin care, feeding, transferring, and mobility aid assistance.
- Short-term respite.
- Provide transportation for clients to local medical appointments when required.
- Monitor and report any changes in clients' health status, behavior, or living conditions to the Homecare Manager/Nurses.
- Maintain accurate records of all services rendered to clients.
- Encourage client and family independence through a strength-based service approach.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

- Certificate in Residential Care, Health Care Assistant, or Personal Care from an accredited community college.
- Registration with the British Columbia Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry.
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Personal Care Worker/Care Aide/Home Care Assistant.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within various teams.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective time management abilities.
- Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, handle multiple assignments concurrently, and maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor in all business interactions, presentations, and engagements with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR an asset
- Food Safe certificate an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Clear drivers abstract.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector.
