Halifax EMC is seeking a skilled and motivated Substation and Systems Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of substation, metering, and communication systems. If you’re passionate about electrical systems and want to make a tangible impact, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

- Assist in construction, upgrades, and maintenance of substations

- Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on substation equipment

- Troubleshoot wiring, controls, and line devices

- Install and maintain circuit reclosers, voltage regulators, and capacitor banks

- Support AMI system equipment and field components

- Maintain and repair SCADA, radio, and telecommunication systems

- Participate in solar plant inspections and mobile substation setup

- Serve on‑call as needed and engage in ongoing technical training

Qualifications

- High school diploma required

- 2–5 years of experience with substation equipment, transformers, AMI systems, and line reclosers

- Working knowledge of computers, basic electricity, and measurement tools

- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

- Valid NC driver’s license with a safe driving record

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
