Lewkowich Engineering Associates Ltd. (LEA) is a professional engineering services firm, established locally in 1994. LEA provides geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and hazardous building materials testing services to Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the surrounding Gulf Islands, with offices in Nanaimo and Courtenay. We have a fulltime team of thirty-five employees, including Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, certified technologists and technicians, industrial hygienists, and administration staff.
At LEA, we work with our clients to solve design and construction related issues for commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects. LEA aims to provide practical solutions that save time and cost, and contribute to a safer community. Who You Are
You are a detailed oriented individual who enjoys working both in the field and in an office environment.
You enjoy working as part of a team in a professional environment, while also being able to work independently with strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
You are comfortable and have experience working on construction sites. Prior experience with earthworks/concrete, construction, and an interest in construction technology.
You are a proactive person, but also someone who can react efficiently and effectively to manage problems.
Key Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
- Registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- Some experience preferred, experience working in BC is ideal.
- Proficiency with current geotechnical software applications. Including but not limited to GeoStudio (Slope/W, Sigma/W, etc.), Rocscience (Slide2/3, Settle3, Rockfall, etc.), ReSSA, MSEW, and GEO5.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required.
- You must be proficient with technical writing and have experience with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environments.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Key Duties
- Assist in the planning and execution of geotechnical site investigations, including soil sampling, drilling supervision, and materials testing.
- Design work and drafting with AutoCAD.
- Conduct field inspections and monitoring during construction to ensure compliance with geotechnical design requirements.
- Complete geotechnical analyses and design, including slope stability, foundation design, and retaining structures.
- Prepare geotechnical reports and design calculations.
- Support senior engineers in project management tasks, including scheduling and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Actively stay updated with industry trends & standards.
