Position Title: Member, Finance & Audit Committee

Organization: St. John Ambulance (BC & Yukon)

Location: British Columbia (Metro Vancouver region + virtual)

Time Commitment: Approx. 2-8 hours/month

Reporting to: Chair, Finance & Audit Committee and the Board of Directors

About St. John Ambulance (BC & Yukon)

St. John Ambulance (BC & Yukon) has served British Columbia and the Yukon for over 115 years, delivering life‑saving first‑aid training, emergency response services, and community volunteer programs. The Finance & Audit Committee supports financial integrity, audit oversight, and long‑term sustainability.

Role Overview

As a member of the Finance & Audit Committee, you will support Board oversight of financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, audit processes, compliance, and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in Committee meetings and review materials in advance.
- Review budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Review audited financial statements, audit findings, and management letters.
- Assess internal controls, financial policies, and financial risk frameworks.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Provide strategic input on financial planning and sustainability.
- Support best‑practice governance and transparency.

Qualifications & Experience

- CPA designation (or equivalent senior finance credential).
- 3+ years in senior finance, audit, or treasury roles (charity/NPO experience preferred).
- Prior Board or committee experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audit processes, internal controls, and budgeting.
- Strong communication, judgment, and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of St. John Ambulance.
