The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is seeking members of the public who reside in BC to contribute their knowledge, skills and expertise by joining a College committee. There are currently vacancies for members of the public on the Inquiry Committee. The Inquiry Committee adjudicates complaints brought to the attention of the College.
Committee members are integral to ensuring the College delivers on its mandate to protect the public through effective regulation of the medical profession. They help maintain public confidence in College proceedings and ensure standards are being met.
About the College
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia regulates the practice of medicine under the authority of provincial law. All physicians who practise medicine in the province must be registrants of the College. The College’s overriding interest is the protection and safety of patients.
About the Board and committees
A Board of 10 registrants and six members of the public appointed by the Ministry of Health govern the College. Under the legislation, the College has many committees made up of board members, medical professionals and public representatives.
