About the Opportunity
The Privacy Analyst is responsible for the administration and continuous improvement of Privacy best practice in their assigned portfolio (Audit). The Privacy Analyst assists in the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to Nova Scotia Health (NSH) privacy principles, policies and procedures.
The Privacy Analyst - Audit Specialist is responsible for conducting audits of access to personal health information and will be responsible for initiating investigations of suspected inappropriate access with the responsible manager and Privacy Officer. The Privacy Analyst - Audit Specialist will design, develop and implement audit processes working with the Privacy team, Information Management and Technology, and other stakeholders. The Privacy Analyst - Audit Specialist is responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of the annual audit plan.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- An undergraduate degree required in Business, Computer Science, Law or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- A minimum of 2 years recent experience in information systems audit and/or privacy protocols, policies or procedures in an organization of significant size and/or complexity
- Knowledge and experience in information privacy laws and healthcare and health information processes
- An information systems audit or security designation (e.g. CISA, CISSP, MCSA) would be an asset
- A Privacy certification would be an asset (e.g. CIPP-C, CIAPP)
- Knowledge in and the ability to apply the principles of health information management, project management, and change management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Exceptional computer skills, with ability to learn and adapt to different health information systems
- Demonstrate self-awareness and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving ability while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A high degree of tact, diplomacy, integrity and impartiality
- Ability to function independently and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- The position will require superior judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
- Competencies in other languages and asset, French preferred

Hours
Compensation and Benefits
$33.80 - $42.25 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
