Maintenance Technician/ Handy-person

Stoney Creek, Canada Lococo's (Meat Plant) Full time

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Overseeing and performing preventative maintenance of food processing equipment, power jack repair, and general building maintenance
- Analytical troubleshooting, detecting irregularities in equipment, and repairing mechanical & electrical related breakdowns, identifying the root cause, and addressing the problem effectively
- Maintaining a preventative maintenance program for facility equipment and keeping detailed records of maintenance including equipment manuals, repair histories and spare parts inventories
- Monitoring water treatment and recording tank levels
- Interacting with all trades such as electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, part suppliers, snow removal company, etc, for all A. Lococo Wholesale Ltd locations
- Comply at all times with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Working independently and in conjunction with management and supervisors to maintain communication expectations
- Utilizing knowledge and skill to recognize opportunities for improvement and savings

Qualifications/Experience:

- Experience in mechanical disassembly and assembly of machinery
- Basic knowledge in electrical, AC or DC, plumbing and hydraulic systems
- Maintenance experience (plant, warehouse, manufacturing environment)
- Ability to read manuals and find parts and blueprints
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Trade license and ability to weld stainless steel would be a strong asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Fast learner and knowledge on continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and with mínimal supervision
- Excellent and demonstrated problem solving skills, this position requires hands on practice
- Ability to work early morning shifts, punctuality is a priority.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License required; own transportation required to travel to other locations for maintenance issues that may arise.
