As a **_Behaviour Interventionist (BI)_** at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® BCBAs, Occupational therapists and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.
**Job Type**: Full-time and part-time roles available
**Salary**: starting at $40,950/yr
**Weekly Schedule**:
Tuesday - Friday 11:30 am - 7:30 pm
Saturday - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
**Take an inside look at what you will do each day**:
- Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
- Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
- Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
- Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
- Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
- Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
- Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
- Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety
**Here is what you will need to be successful**
- 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
- Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology.
- Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months
- A reliable vehicle and and driver's license
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus
- Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
- Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
- Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
