**Killarney Summer Day Camps - Children's Camp Leader**
(Day Camp Leader)

**Days**:Monday to Friday (unless a statutory holiday); Mandatory Training Date: TBA
**Times**:8:00am-4:00pm; 35-40HRS/WK
**Rate of Pay**:$18.50 + 4% in lieu of vacation and stat holidays
**Start date**: Jul 2-Aug 23, 2024 plus additional hours for camp prep and training
- **Note**:_ _Hours per week and period of employment are contingent upon Canada Summer Jobs Grant/HRSDC funding._

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with groups of children 6-12 years of age in a recreational or educational program setting
- Knowledge of a wide variety of age appropriate activities for child in the areas of sport, arts and culture, outdoor recreation, and environmental studies
- Demonstrates ability to navigate emergencies, unusual incidents and behavioral challenges
- Adapting guidelines for the support of inclusion and accessibility
- Ability to work independently is necessary for this position
- Strong leadership, administration and planning, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with child of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Valid First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification
- Minimum first year college or university education in a related field is desirable
- FoodSafe Level 1, HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification, Class 5 driver’s license, and fluency in a second language are considered assets

**Job Specifications**:
In consultation with the Recreation Programmer(s):

- Responsible for the safety, leadership and supervision of children (aged 6-12yrs) during children’s day camp activities
- Work alongside the Summer Fun Day Camp Project Manager to plan, advertise, and implement a wide range of activities with an emphasis on leadership skill development
- Adhere to established procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety of all program participants and staff
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as attendance checks and writing accident/incident report forms
- Clean up and secure facility rooms, leaving them presentable for evening programs/community groups
- Respond to first aid needs and unusual incidents
- Encourage physical and mental fitness through a wide range of cultural, artistic, and recreational activities
- Build positive relationships and maintain good communication with participants, colleagues, supervisors, parents, guardians, and the community through active participation in program activities
- Be a positive role model to participants at all times
- Accurately and resourcefully manage petty cash funds
- Adhering to up-to-date COVID & Public Health Authority guidelines

**Necessary Conditions for Consideration**:
In compliance with the Canada Summer Jobs Grant/HRSDC guidelines, all applicants must:

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Successful completion of a Police Record Check vulnerable sectors search is also necessary prior to program start
