JOB SUMMARY

The Tool and Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring tools and equipment are available, properly maintained and safe to use at all times. The Tool and Equipment Maintenance Technician is also responsible for re-testing and/or re-certifying any tool or piece of equipment in accordance with all applicable legislation, industry standards and corporate requirements as well as identifying and administering policies and procedures specific to the operation of the tool and equipment repair facility.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential responsibilities of the position include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:
- Establish and maintain a scheduling program to ensure all lifting/ pulling devices (lever hoist) are disassembled, inspected, refurbished and recertified on an annual basis as per manufacturer's specifications, HOL standards and EUSR (Electrical Utility Safety Rules).- Inspect, repair and certify all grounding systems on Fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, HOL standards and EUSR (Electrical Utility Safety Rules).- Conduct research and seek innovations in new tools and equipment and in the establishment of tool and equipment standards.- Establish and maintain an inventory system for all identified tools and equipment- Maintain and repair tools and equipment and identify new and replacement tools and equipment.- Provide information and input to management on an ongoing basis to further improve and develop all aspects of the HOL tool and equipment programs.- Establish and maintain a scheduling program to ensure all high voltage rubber cover up is recertified and exchanged on an annual basis on vehicles equipped with high voltage rubber, as per regulations, HOL standards and EUSR (Electrical Utility Safety Rules).- Ensure equipment items such as ground reels and rubber cover ups are tested, scheduled and inspection performed as required.- Assist Supervisor Fleet Services in the development of tool crib operation business plans, objectives and budgets.- Conduct and administer the tool crib and work activities within existing business plans and budgets.- Operate, manage and maintain tool and equipment preventative maintenance programs and schedules that ensure compliance with applicable regulations, Electrical Utility Safety Rule (EUSR), manufacturer's recommendations and industry best practices.- Work closely with the end user to establish, administer and maintain processes for the emergency repair and/or replacement of defective tools and equipment including the maintenance of a “loaner” tool inventory to bridge the repair time.- Source potential suppliers, parts, availability and pricing and order as required and organize shipping and receiving of goods to and from suppliers, ensuring purchases are reconciled on a monthly basis.- Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a small engine repair technician- Small Engine Repair Certification

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS- English essential, both oral and written- Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.- Valid driver’s license - Class “G”
