At Ford Motor Company, we are taking our Manufacturing Operating Systems to the next level. These talented employees are responsible for teaching, coaching, problem solving major concerns on priority issues for the organization, delivering project results, and supporting the plant in significant change initiatives.

The Ford Operating System Specialist is responsible for implementing the Ford Operating System (FOS) at all levels of the organization within Oakville Assembly Complex (OAC) with emphasis on Ford Production System (FPS), Lean and Six Sigma (6Ω) problem-solving methodologies.

Position Duties:

- Directs local coaching and training needs for FOS, FPS, Lean manufacturing and (6Ω) solutions
- Drives integration of Lean manufacturing, 6Ω problem-solving and Quality Operating (QOS) systems
- Works with Manufacturing Leadership and Operating System Leads to strengthen the integration and ownership of Lean tools
- Provides coaching to Manufacturing Leaders to ensure alignment to standardized process deployment within all functional areas and levels
- Works with skill teams and operating systems to align processes and vision
- Supports implementation of eFPS solutions that provide efficiencies and supports Continuous Improvement
- Works closely with Launch Teams to ensure integration of FPS tools, eFPS and processes aligned to the Launch Quality Operating System
- Works with Manufacturing Learning and Development (L&D) on FPS related training development and deployment
- Works with Manufacturing Leadership on lean strategies and development of longer-term vision
- Supports and drives efforts to energize operations commitment to the disciplines of FPS and QOS continuous improvement
- Acts as Subject Matter Expert for Lean manufacturing, FPS deployment and standardization
- Engage various executives, skill teams, and other stakeholders to understand positions, issues, and concerns to gain consensus on FPS strategies
- Facilitate various learning and discussion forums (small group, 1:1s) to further articulate, evolve, implement, and confirm lean strategies
- Develop and implement Data Science tools including analytics with advanced (6Ω) Master Black Belts (MBB’s) providing greater problem-solving capacity, root cause identification, Waste Elimination, knowledge, and skill gaps
- Lead and improve frontline leadership problem-solving capabilities
- Implement simplified problem-solving tools for Team Leaders and Process Coaches
- Use 6Ω approach to improve all areas of the business
- Implement and lead Ford NA 6Ω strategy within manufacturing plant
- Coach Plant OCM, Black belts and Green belts in strategic problem solving and Six Sigma methodologies
- Lead and assist problem solving teams at Ford facilities and suppliers
- Teach Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt classes, help prepare employees and co-operative students for certification
- Coach and teach FPS methods including standards and project selection
- Coach and mentor BBs, GBs to use 6 Sigma tools properly and complete projects
- Run 6 Sigma Kaizen projects to support resolution of significant issues
- Lead 6 Sigma continuous improvement projects to resolve significant issues
- Liaison with other business units on best practices and 6 Sigma knowledge
- Support implementation of FPS standards and continuous improvement tools
- Drive implementation of continuous improvement methodology and sustainability strategies with plant leadership
- Provide FPS assistance and training to the plant as required
- Coach and teach FPS methods including standards and project selection.
- Drive waste identification and elimination through lean six sigma principles

Minimum Requirements:

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience:

- Broad Manufacturing production operations experience
- Robust communication skills and ability to interface with all plant workforce constituent levels
- Strong drive for deliver tangible results that impact plant metrics
- Strong statistical analysis skillset
- Deep understanding of Ford QOS and methods
- Proven ability to lead teams
- Thorough understanding of FPS principles and continuous improvement strategy
- Deep Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing
- Work well under pressure and to be able to work under crisis management when necessary
- Ability to work and multi-task in fast-paced environment

Preferred Requirements:

- Education: Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related discipline
- 3-5 years intermediate manufacturing leadership or coordination experience preferred
- Certifications: 6Ω Master Black Belt or ability to obtain certification within three (3) months
- Experience:

- Broad production and/or maintenance system experience
- Strong ability to interface with plant hourly, salaried personnel, and plant management
- Strong drive for deliver tangible results that impact plant metrics
- Strong statistical analysis skillset
