Job Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse works within the Standards of Nursing practice as directed by the College of Nurses, the Regulated Health Professional Act, July 1996, Regulations, the Nursing Act (Bill 57) and the Guidelines of Ethical Behaviour, policies and practices of the Hospital.
The RPN works within an interprofessional team to provide outstanding care for patients attending the COVID Assessment Centre, and as a member of the mobile COVID testing team at various locations, for assessment and consultation. The RPN works as part of the team performing COVID testing to educate patients and families on recommendations, treatment options and self-management strategies.

**Qualifications**:

- RPN diploma from a recognized school of nursing.
- RPN Certificate of Registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certification required
- Minimum one-year recent experience, within the last two years, in medicine, surgery, or emergency department.
- Proficiency with Phlebotomy and IV start.
- Demonstrates proficiency in physical assessment.
- Experience working in a dynamic and interactive team environment
- Experience working with complex patients.
- IV and wound care practical experience.
- Medication reconciliation knowledge and experience.
- Ability to work in close collaboration with other team members and physicians in an interprofessional team environment in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to prepare patient clinical information in preparation for visit utilizing both internal and external sources of information.
- Proven ability to address follow up questions from patients, facilitate linkages to other hospital programs and community services and communicate team recommendations to primary care physicians.
